– 1½ cups cornmeal– 1 cup all-purpose flour– ½ cup sugar– 4 teaspoons baking powder– ½ teaspoon salt– 2 cups buttermilk– 1 egg– 6 tablespoons butter, melted, divided

In the meanwhile, preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and put the cast-iron pan inside.

Flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt should all be mixed together in a big bowl.

Put the egg, buttermilk, and 3 tablespoons of butter in a medium-sized bowl.
