The LSU Tigers gymnastics team achieved a groundbreaking milestone on Saturday, securing a program record with a triumphant 198.475-196.200 victory over Arkansas.
Olivia Dunne, making her return to competition since the Sprouts Collegiate Quad on Jan. 13, showcased her prowess in the floor routine.
Notching a 9.90 in her initial performance and a 9.85 in the second, she achieved an average score of 9.875, matching her season high set against Ohio State.
Sharing her excitement, Dunne captioned a TikTok video with Annie Beard, celebrating the record-setting win.
Teammate Haleigh Bryant added to the team’s triumph by earning a perfect score, marking her as the gymnast with the most perfect 10s in program history, totaling an impressive 12.
On the floor exercise, the Tigers concluded with an outstanding score of 49.775. Additionally, the team scored 49.550 on the bars and 49.625 on the beam.
Reflecting on the performance, Tigers coach Jay Clark emphasized the focus on improvement, stating, “Well, we got better. That’s what this week was about.
The focus and the main goal was to get a good performance, a complete performance.”
Clark expressed a commitment to maintaining performance standards rather than fixating on scores, emphasizing the team’s dedication to progress one step at a time.
The victory also marked a significant milestone for Coach Jay Clark, securing his 100th career win.
With a current record of 5-2 for the year and a 2-1 standing against SEC opponents, LSU looks ahead to their upcoming meet on the road against Georgia.
