My Italian relatives and in-laws stayed a month. My mother-in-law and I talk about food and lunch/dinner. Calabrian sweet fritters were her holiday Nocatole. Nocatole, Calabrian food. This Reggio Calabrian and other recipe is old. Calabrian sweets use flour, eggs, olive oil, and milk.
Ingredient
– 2 3/4 cups flour 500 gram– 3 teaspoons baking powder– 1 3/4 cup 150 grams sugar– 3 egg– 3 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil– 1 tablespoon your favourite liqueur– Dash of cinnamon– 1 Tablespoon of milk– Confectioner's sugar
Direction
1
Place flour on clean work surface. Mix baking powder into flour quickly with your hands. Make a well in the flour and add sugar, eggs, extra-virgin olive oil, liqueur, and cinnamon.
2
Mix the ingredients. Start with a tablespoon of milk. When dough needs more, add a tablespoon. Knead dough until smooth and soft.
3
Rest dough for 30 minutes.
Roll small pieces of dough (about 100 grams each) into logs.
4
Separate the log into two pieces. Take two ends and wrap around the top of a rope of dough halfway down. To prevent opening, gently press ends together. You could also make simple rings.
5
Fry dough in hot vegetable oil. Both sides of the nocatole should be dark golden.
